Lake County CASA advocates sworn in

Eight North suburban Chicago residents were sworn in recently in the chamber of the Lake County Juvenile Court, Vernon Hills, as officers of the court and as advocates for battered and neglected children.

The advocates are charged with helping to change the lives of abused children. The ceremony took place after the eight volunteers completed 40 hours of training provided by CASA Lake County, located in The Corporate Woods in Vernon Hills.

Judges have praised the work of the advocates in writing informative reports concerning the needs of the children. CASA has more than 200 advocates and seeks more because of the need to provide a safe and healthy environment for these young people. The new advocates are Judy Rich of Highland Park, Ken Peterson of Northbrook, Michael Lorsch of Buffalo Grove, Marcy Rosengarten of Northbrook, Carola Tanna of Lake Bluff, Ekta Sirohi of Kildeer, Meg Manda Hayes of Northfield and Dennis Mudd of Libertyville.
