Metra trains back on schedule after Arlington Heights truck crash

Metra trains along the Union Pacific Northwest Line are back on schedule after earlier delays caused by a truck becoming wedged in an underpass in Arlington Heights, officials said.

Arlington Heights police said the truck, driven by Jean Schwab, 65 of Elmhurst, attempted to drive under the tracks at Davis Road near Northwest Highway at about 8:30 a.m. when it became stuck. Schwab later was cited for disobeying the height restrictions, police said.

While crews worked to removed the truck, Train 636, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 9:28 a.m., was delayed 15-20 minutes, and Train 640, which was scheduled to leave Harvard at 9:35 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 11:23 a.m., was pushed 18-20 minutes behind schedule, Metra reported.

The road has reopened and the viaduct was not damaged, authorities said.
