Laughs are gone from SNL

My commentary has to do with the lighter side of the news, show business to be specific.

A recent article by the Associated Press presented an interview with SNL's Lorne Michaels. "Lorne Michaels wraps up SNL's 40th season as he looks ahead."

Basically he put a positive spin on writers and current cast members and although certain adjustments had to be made, the show he suggested is going strong.

Well, hello, SNL. You're just not funny anymore. Since the core comedic talent left - and ironically Lorne Michaels lists them - the new guys as a whole aren't that entertaining. There's something missing. John Belushi, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Jason Sudeikis, for example, had that something.

I sit with family and friends and watch the show and we turn to one another and say, "What, are they doing? I haven't laughed once, let alone smiled; don't these guys know it isn't working?"

They try, but it's just not happening. For 40 years we laughed. I hope we can laugh again.
