In spite of a great pitching performance from Pat Smith and an offense which out-hit Glenbard West 7-1, Conant's baseball season is over.
The Cougars fell in 1-0 in 8 inning in a Class 4A regional semifinal at Addison Trail on Thursday.
Smith pitched all 8 innings, striking out 8 and walking two. The only hit he allowed was a single.
Matt Fauth had 2 hits for Conant (20-15).
The Hilltoppers scored their run on an error.
Glenbrook South 1, Buffalo Grove 0: The visiting Bison (16-21) put up a battle before bowing out in a regional semifinal hosted by the Titans.
Glenbrook South meets St. Viator at 10 a.m. Saturday in a regional final.
