Boys volleyball: Northwest roundup

St. Viator's boys volleyball team did it again, topping a much higher-seeded for the second day in a row to earn a spot in the Antioch sectional semifinals.

This 12th-seeded Lions handled No. 4 Zion-Benton 25-19, 25-19 on Wednesday in a regional final at Wheeling. It's St. Viator's first regional title in 10 years.

Matt Drab delivered 8 kills along with 3 aces on 7-for-8 serving, and Vito Brunetti had 11 assists and a 13-for-13 effort at the service line for St. Viator.

St. Viator will play Barrington at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Antioch.

Barrington d. Deerfield: The Broncos got past the Warriors 25-21, 27-25 to advance to the Antioch sectional semifinal.

Barrington, the MSL West champion and No. 1 seed in the sectional, next faces No. 12 seed St. Viator.

at Niles West: Maine East stopped Rolling Meadows' playoff run with a 25-17, 25-20 decision.

The Blue Demons advance to a 6:30 p.m. Glenbrook South semifinal matchup Friday against New Trier.

at Addison Trail: The host Blazers ended Leyden's season by topping the Eagles 25-13, 25-22.

at Conant: Lake Park advanced with a 21-25, 25-23, 26-4 decision over Glenbard North.
