Speech professor named outstanding faculty member at College of DuPage

Chris Miller, an associate professor of speech at the College of DuPage, has been named the school's outstanding faculty member.

Miller, a resident of Lombard, will receive a $1,000 award from the College of DuPage Foundation, which rewards winning faculty members every year. He has taught at the Glen Ellyn-based community college since 2002 in the speech department and coached the forensics team. He previously was a speech professor and director of forensics at Kishwaukee Community College.

His initial interest in speech came while taking a class as a student at Solano Community College in California, where he was recruited by a teacher to join the forensics team. Miller later earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees at Northern Illinois University.
