Libertyville, police sergeants ink contract

Libertyville has reached agreement with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 33 for a three-year contract covering the police department's sergeants.

Under the agreement, sergeants who will receive salary increases of 2 percent retroactive to May 1, 2014; 2 percent effective May 1, 2015: one-half percent effective Nov. 1; 2 percent on May 1, 2016 and one half percent on Nov. 1, 2016.

The previous agreement expired on April 30, 2014, and the new one runs until April 30, 2017. The agreement also allows compensation time to be paid quarterly rather than biannually not to exceed 100 hours per fiscal year.

Libertyville police currently are at full staffing with four sergeants. They are paid $94,162 upon promotion to the position, with pay ranging to $108,252 after serving three years.
