Collins agrees to NU contract extension

Northwestern has agreed to a contract extension with men's basketball coach Chris Collins.

The school did not provide any details while announcing the move on Tuesday.

Collins, who replaced Bill Carmody, is 29-36 in two seasons. Northwestern went 14-19 his first year and 15-17 last season.

Collins, 41, is a 1996 Duke grad and the son of former NBA coach and player Doug Collins. Next season, Northwestern returns veterans Alex Olah and Tre Demps along with sophomores Vic Law and Bryant McIntosh, The Wildcats, who have made seven NIT appearances, have never qualified for the NCAA men's tournament and have not had a winning record in the conference since 1968.
