Dist. 102 music program wins national recognition

Aptakisic-Tripp Elementary District 102 was recognized with a "Best Communities for Music Education" designation by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation last week.

District 102 was one of 388 districts across the country and one of six in Illinois to receive the distinction.

District 102 provides general music education as part of the curriculum, and offers band, choral and orchestra modules as electives during the school day.

The school board believes fine arts are an important component in educating the whole child. Research indicates that learning to play music can boost academic and social skills.
