Courtney's double lifts Prospect in 9
Jack Courtney's double drove in Travis Gates with the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning and Prospect held on to claim a 6-5 victory over York in nonconference baseball Saturday.
Jake Cavaiani finished with 3 hits and Lucas Karz had a triple for Prospect (26-7).
Karz pitched 2 relief innings and earned a win, and Sean Blatz tossed 1 scoreless inning to merit a save.
Barrington 16, Lake Forest 6: The visiting Broncos (24-9) broke through with an 11-run sixth inning to pick up a nonconference win. Jimmy Day doubled twice for the MSL West champs, Jake Coon finished 4-for-5 and Luke Johnson, Jacob Chapman and Jake Petersen had 2 hits each.
Elk Grove 8, Oswego 5: Matt Wary drove in the winning run in the fifth inning as the MSL champs rallied from behind to pick up a nonconference win.
Wary homered and finished 3-for-4 with 5 RBI for Elk Grove (22-8), which trailed 5-1 after the fourth inning. Jack McEnroe doubled twice and Brandon Post had a pair of hits for the Grens as Joe Lopez earned a win with 2 scoreless relief innings.
Hersey swept: The Huskies dropped a pair in nonconference play, falling to McHenry 7-0 and 9-5.
Brett Harris had a strong effort in the 9-5 game, doubling and homering, and Paul Tokar had 3 hits for the Huskies (11-20-1).
Dundee-Crown 4, Palatine 1: Chris Macahon had a pair of hits and Mitch Dolen doubled, but the visiting Pirates (14-9) couldn't generate enough offense in a nonconference road loss.
Hoffman Estates 8, Hinsdale Central 2: Devin Willis had 3 hits to lead a Hawks attack which generated 11 of them in a nonconference road win.
Four Hoffman Estates pitchers shared a 5-hitter, with Lucas Barnes getting the win after tossing 3 scoreless innings.
It was tied at 2 after the fourth inning before the Hawks (14-13) scored 6 runs in the fifth.
