Barrington handles Warren

Top-seeded Barrington (18-1-3) advanced into the Glenbrook South girls soccer sectional with a 3-0 victory over No. 8 seed Warren (12-8-2) in a regional final Friday at Fremd.

Fillies all-stater Jenna Szczesny bagged all 3 goals for Ryan Stengren's club, two coming in the first half, to give the Loyola-bound senior 31 goals this spring.

“I was really impressed at how composed Warren was,” said Stengren. “They actually had the better of chances than we did, but Hannah (Luedtke) made a couple of key saves to help us out when we needed it.”

Two of the three Szczesny scored were unassisted, as the Fillies broke down the off-sides trap of Warren, with senior Ann Marie Niro recording the lone assist on the night for Barrington.

The Fillies next meet Buffalo Grove at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Glenbrook South.

Lake Zurich, the No. 2 seed, awaits its 7 p.m. Tuesday opponent, which will be decided Saturday as Glenbrook South travels to Hersey for an 11 a.m. start.
