Conant's C.J. Deshazer went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI to help the Cougars past host Lake Park 5-0 on Friday in a nonconference baseball matchup.

Anthony Forte tripled and Jake Reiger and Ryan Roberts doubled as Conant (20-13) made the most of 7 hits and 4 Lancers errors.

Luke Downey threw 60 of his 87 pitches for strikes in a complete-game victory. He allowed 5 hits and got 3 strikeouts without issuing a walk.

Maine West 6, Rolling Meadows 3: Sean Russell went 3-for-4 and drove in 3 runs to help the visiting Warriors earn a nonconference victory over the Mustangs.

Crosley Duckmann had 2 hits for Maine West (16-14), which got a strong start from Sam Kindlle (2 earned runs on 4 hits through 5 innings) and a nice finish from Rob Yost, who earned a save.

Ryan Laboda and Sean O'Brien had doubles for Rolling Meadows (6-26).

Palatine 6, Buffalo Grove 5 (10 inn.): Chris Macahon's sacrifice fly plated Zach Oles with the winning run as the visiting Pirates prevailed Thursday in their MSL crossover.

Palatine's Andrew Breytenbach finished 3-for-5 with a walk, and Zach Oles was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI. Nick Orlando doubled and drove in a run, and Mitch Dolen walked twice and scored twice for the Pirates (14-18).

John Carpinelli and Nate D'Onofrio had 2 hits each for Buffalo Grove (13-19), and Trey Cervantes drove in 3 runs.

Palatine hosts Hersey in a regional quarterfinal matchup at 10 a.m. Monday, while Buffalo Grove plays host to Round Lake at 10 a.m.
