Arlington Hts. police win traffic safety contest

The Arlington Heights Police Department has won first place in the 2014-2015 Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge for municipal police departments with 101-250 sworn officers.

The challenge is a competition between similar-sized law enforcement agencies that targets three major traffic safety priorities: occupant protection; speeding and impaired driving. It recognizes agencies for the approach and effectiveness of their overall highway safety programs and innovative problem-solving, among other criteria. The Arlington Heights Police Department will be recognized Aug. 19.
