Fast-starting Prospect handles Conant

Prospect enjoyed a productive afternoon against visiting Conant in their Mid-Suburban League baseball crossover Thursday, delivering all its scoring in the first four innings in a 12-6 victory.

Patrick Donohue led the way with a 4-for-4 effort which included a double. Matt Nadler, Jake Cavaiani and Mike Piotrowski each had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs, and Sean Delacruz and Tyler Damasky also had 2 hits.

Justin Placko (3 IP, 6 runs) and Dan Devereux (4 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs) shared mound duties for the Knights (25-7).

Jimmy McLaughlin had a big day at the plate for Conant, finishing 3-for-3 with a solo homer. Matt Fauth had 2 hits and scored twice, and Anthony Forte had a double as the Cougars fell to 19-14 overall.

Schaumburg 16, Wheeling 9: Christian Poulsen, Tyler Teele, Brendan Beck and Andrew Ralston each homered to power the visiting Saxons in their MSL crossover.

Beck earned the victory in relief for Schaumburg, which got a 4-for-5 day at the plate from Chris Broccolino and a 3-hit effort from Austin Anzelmo (including 2 doubles).

The Saxons (13-4-1) produced 20 hits.

Matt Vollmer and Alec Gaffin had doubles for Wheeling (10-19).

Fremd 11, Hersey 1: Northwestern-bound pitcher Mack Rosman made his final Mid-Suburban League start a winner, fanning 12 in 6 innings.

J.T. Kolderup and the Fremd offense provided plenty of run support.

Kolderup homered and double, driving in 4 runs. Jake LaGasse finished 2-for-5 with a homer and 3 RBI, Tom Austin went 3-for-4 and scored 3 runs and Patrick Cudney had 2 hits for the Vikings (16-15).

Dan Wolf had 3 hits and Nick Zouras had 2 for Hersey (11-18-1).

Rolling Meadows 3, Glenbard North 1: The host Mustangs topped the DuPage Valley Conference champs as Trent McNally tossed a complete-game 7-hitter with 4 strikeouts and a walk.

Sean O'Brien doubled and scored, and Brett Gibson finished 2-for-3 with a double for Rolling Meadows (6-25).
