Big family needs lighting, seating

Help! We are a family of eight and love to eat outside, but there just isn't proper seating. The rattan furniture is broken and mismatched and the lighting is horrible. There is a step down to where the table is and at night you cannot see it when it's dark. It can be dangerous. It would be wonderful to have a nice cozy, well-lit area that we can all enjoy together!

This deck is amazing. Let's highlight the division of spaces by dropping a chandelier over the table and create soft lighting in the seating area.

• Step lighting on the rise of that first step will help to create a safer entertainment space I recommend Hinkley Step Light 1546BZ-LED. The louvers on this fixture will direct the light downward and prevent blinding of your guests sitting at the table. This is 12V LED and will run on 1.7 watts.

• Add deck lighting on the inside of your deck posts to define the space and create a soft light for your seating area. Try 15765AZT27; it takes 1.9 watts.

• For dinner parties and entertaining, drop a low-voltage chandelier from the center of the pergola. Products like Kichler's 15402OZ are rated for exterior and easy to install. This specific chandelier will produce a 100 watts, perfect lighting for an intimate exterior gathering.
