Letter: Do not demand of others to support sin
Some recent letters demonstrate confusion in comprehending why faithful Christians cannot participate in homosexual weddings; they illogically extrapolated that Christian business owners are refusing to serve homosexuals any and all services. That is simply not true.
If I had a bakery, and a homosexual comes in advertising he is homosexual in some way, I won't deny a sale. But if he comes in and asks me to cater to a homosexual marriage, I would have to say no, that's against my religion, because homosexual behavior is a sin in my religion. That is not discrimination or hypocrisy. It is staying true to God's will. I would also say to the homosexual, now look, I too sin. When I do, I repent to the Lord, as per what Jesus taught. If a prostitute came in to buy cake, I would not deny a sale, but if the prostitute asked me to cater at a place used for prostitution I would have so say no, I won't support what goes on there.
The problem is not selling a cake to a homosexual. It's not for me to judge a person's homosexuality; that is the prerogative of God. However, if I accept sin, by participating in the sin of homosexuality by promoting it, then I also sin.
So let's not of demand others to also participate in how we sin.
