Rolling Meadows edges Hoffman Estates

Host Rolling Meadows pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 4-3 victory Wednesday in its divisional crossover matchup against Hoffman Estates in Mid-Suburban League baseball.

Terry Moran earned a complete-game win for Rolling Meadows. He allowed 6 hits, struck out three and didn't allow a walk.

Brett Gibson finished 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and scored 3 runs for the Mustangs (5-25), and Ryan Laboda went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and stolen base and 1 RBI.

Matt Roesch finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Jeff Mayes had a double and scored for Hoffman Estates (13-13).

Maine West 8, Maine East 1: The host Warriors drew 9 walks on their way to a Central Suburban League crossover victory.

Joe Swanson doubled and drove in 3 runs, Eric Outlaw drove in 2 and walked twice and Sean Russell and Jake Russell had a pair of hits and stole 2 bases apiece at the top of the lineup for the Warriors.

Tommy Hanson worked the first 6 innings for Maine West (15-14), allowing 4 hits and 2 walks while getting 3 strikeouts.

St. Viator 3, Notre Dame 2 (8 inn.): Ben Dickey scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to help the Lions (22-11) split their two-game set with the Dons in East Suburban Catholic Conference play.

Dan Sullivan hit a solo home in the fourth inning for St. Viator to tie it at 1-1. In the sixth, a Cole Kmet single plated Dickey with the go-ahead run, but Notre Dame tied it in the seventh inning with the help of a Lions error.

St. Viator starter Aaron Tres allowed 1 earned run through 6⅔ inning before Kevin Napoleon relieved. Tres struck out seven and allowed 6 hits, while Napoloeon picked up the victory.

St. Viator has four of its last five games.
