Indians batter Danks early, shut down Sox

After pitching very well in his last two starts, John Danks was back to being ineffective in the White Sox' 5-2 loss to the Indians Thursday night at U.S. Cellular Field.

Danks was battered in the first inning, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, 1 walk and a wild pitch. Nick Swisher and Mike Aviles closed out the early outburst with back-to-back solo home runs.

Overall, Danks pitched 5⅓ innings and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks.

Sox catcher Tyler Flowers provided all of the scoring with a 2-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning.

The White Sox (18-20) won the series opener against Cleveland before losing three straight.
