Volunteers tie ribbons to honor Mundelein police

On Saturday, May 9, around 25 people, including members of Boy Scout Troops 195 and 198, Girl Scout Troop 40511 and Cub Scout Pack 295; parents of the Scouts; police academy alumni; and members of the Police Statue Committee helped tie blue ribbons in honor and support for the Mundelein Police Department.

The ribbons were in place in advance of National Police Week, Sunday May 10, to Saturday, May 16.

In conjunction with recognizing the Mundelein Police Department for more than 100 years of law enforcement to the community, the Mundelein Police Statue Committee is working to raise funds to have a life-size bronze statue featuring a police officer holding the hands of two children created and installed in front of the police department on Route 45.

The Mundelein Police Statue Fund is accepting donations in any amount, which can be mailed to: Mundelein Police Statue Fund, 300 Plaza Circle, Mundelein, IL 60060.

To donate online or for more information about the statue, visit www.mundelein.org/policestatue.
