Cougars claim victory over Timber Rattlers 4-2

APPLETON, Wis. - The Kane County Cougars earned a 4-2 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (9-27) at Fox Cities Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (17-19) were ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the ninth when closer Zac Curtis entered the game, Curtis allowed 1 run on a wild pitch, but the left-hander earned the save with a strikeout and a fly out.

In the third, the Cougars' Colin Bray hit a sacrifice fly and Marty Herum and Grant Heyman drove in runs with back-to-back doubles. Herum drove home Victor Reyes with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning. Reyes drove across Joe Munoz with a hit in the sixth.

Cougars starter and winning pitcher Brent Jones (2-3) worked 5 innings, allowing 1 run and stranding nine runners.

The series concludes Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
