214@100: Wheeling principal rooted in District 214

Angela Sisi is deeply rooted in District 214. She graduated from Buffalo Grove High School, began her career at Elk Grove and now is the principal of Wheeling High School.

Sisi also held various roles at Stevenson High School, where she worked as a Spanish teacher, dean and director of student services.

Under Sisi's leadership, Wheeling, a comprehensive high school with a STEM focus, continues to expand academic support for students while focusing on career pathways. After opening a nanotechnology lab in 2013 that drew a visit from U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Sisi and her team revisioned and rebranded Wheeling's Literacy Lab, a tutoring service that provides support to students and teachers.

Since the start of this academic year, the Lab has held more than 7,000 sessions. "The staff at Wheeling is the most amazing, dedicated group of people with whom I have ever had the pleasure to work, and the students are the kindest, hardest working teenagers," Sisi said.
