The top two seeds, and the top two finishers in the Mid-Suburban West, will battle it out for a spot in the boys water polo state tournament.
No. 1 seed Barrington advanced in Schaumburg sectional play with an 8-5 victory against No. 4 Fremd as Chase Lesniak (3 goals) and Matt Gouskos (2) led the scoring effort for the Broncos.
In the last semifinal of the day at Schaumburg, No. 2 seed Conant ended a terrific season for the Saxons with a 12-9 victory.
Barrington (28-2) and Conant (27-5) will meet with a sectional title at stake at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Wheeling 8, Mundelein 7: The sixth-seeded Wildcats again sprung an upset, this time knocking off second-seeded Mundelein to earn a spot against Stevenson in Saturday's scheduled noon sectional final at Buffalo Grove.
The Mid-Suburban East champions got 4 goals from junior Nate Reiff and improved to 16-13.
Collin Kapecki scored 4 goals as top-seeded Stevenson (25-6) handled McHenry 18-7 in the other semi at BG.
