214@100: Once a Bison, always a Bison

At Buffalo Grove High School, people say "Once a Bison, always a Bison." This rings true for Jeff Wardle, a former math teacher who returned at the beginning of the 2014-15 year as the school's principal.

Wardle first taught abroad, in Venezuela and Mexico, before teaching math at Buffalo Grove High School. He left in 2008 to become a division head at John Hersey High School. Returning to Buffalo Grove brings back fond memories for Wardle - beyond the professional highlights, he met his wife, then-physical education teacher Laura Vermiglio, while subbing at the school.

In his first year as principal, Wardle has made solid relationships with the school's staff and students. "I believe leadership is all about relationships, so getting to know the people here is really important to me," Wardle said.
