Dance showcase funds teen cardiac screenings

An evening of dance, featuring performances by troupes from Naperville-area high schools and dance schools, will help raise money to prevent sudden cardiac death in teens.

The Kathryn Bender Memorial Dance Showcase honors Bender, who was a senior at Naperville North High School in 2005 when she died before a performance due to sudden cardiac death. In her memory, the Kathryn Bender Memorial Foundation raises money to draw attention to heart disorders in youth and to help bring Young Hearts for Life electrocardiogram screenings to area high schools in the hopes of finding cardiac issues before they cause problems.

The dance showcase begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Naperville North, 899 N. Mill St., Naperville. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors. Tickets are available online at naperville203.tix.com. Visit kbmf.net for information.
