214@100: Exchange brings Danny Moya a long way from home

Buffalo Grove High School has hosted 38 foreign exchange students over the last three decades through a program that benefits both the international visitors and the school's students and staff. While foreign exchange students perfect their English and the American culture, Buffalo Grove students and staff get a taste of new cultures that broaden their global perspectives.

This school year, Buffalo Grove welcomed senior Danny Moya, who left his home in Guayaquil, Ecuador to come to the U.S. through a program sponsored by Rotary International. He immediately joined the cheerleading squad and the cross-country team, and has stayed with several host families to help him learn different aspects of American culture. Moya said he is "making lots of friends and learning more English every day."
