Girls soccer: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, May 7

With the game on the line, Huntley's Deanna Hecht came through in the clutch.

Hecht scored in the 89th minute off an assist from Kaitlin Costantino to propel the Red Raiders to a 1-0 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win over Crystal Lake South.

Paige Renkosik made 2 saves in goal to notch the shutout for Huntley (14-2, 4-0). Jaclyn Przybylski made 6 saves for Crystal Lake South (12-6-1, 3-2).

Burlington Central 6, Marengo 0: It was all Rockets in this Big Northern Conference East Division victory.

Central led 3-0 at intermission thanks to goals by Ashley Ahrens (assist Yareli Vargas), Cassi Ciganek (unassisted) and Jessica Clousier (assist Elizabeth Gousios).

Clousier recorded her second goal of the game with 32:14 left in the second half off an assist from Sydney Pryor. Vargas scored with 8:54 to play off an assist from Julia Petsche and Petsche closed things out with a goal with 3:27 left off a Megan Majewski feed.

Abbi Ciganek and Erin Rafferty shared the shutout in goal for the Rockets. They did not face a single shot. Central moved to 16-2-0 overall and 10-1 in East Division action.

St. Edward 3, Aurora Central Catholic 0: Senior night at St. Edward had a happy ending after the Green Wave scored this Metro Suburban Conference West Division victory.

Kathleen Duffy put the Green Wave on the board in the first half via a penalty kick. Duffy made it 2-0 in the second half with a goal off an assist from Casey Gredzieleski. Bella Uscila added a goal with an assist from Megan Kearney.

Paige Dykstra made 2 saves in goal to earn the shutout for St. Edward (11-7, 4-2).

Duffy made her 101st consecutive start for the Green Wave.

Larkin 4, East Aurora 0: Larkin improved to 11-9-1 overall after this Upstate Eight crossover victory. Samantha Moreno and Tatiana Reynoso each scored 2 first-half goals for coach Ken Hall's squad. Moreno, Stephanie Nunez and Angela Smith each had an assist. Haley Casebeer made 3 saves to record the shutout.

Cary-Grove 5, Dundee-Crown 0: Cary-Grove broke open a close 1-0 contest with four second-half goals to record this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win.

Carli Petersen had Cary-Grove's first goal off an assist from Genna Sobieszczyk. Jenni Phillips and Alex Airhart scored the Trojans' next two goals off assists from Frankie Frericks. Phillips scored the team's fourth goal unassisted and Natalie Bethers closed out the scoring off an assist from Rosie Townsley.

Miranda Malone and Morgan Olsen shared the shutout in goal for Cary-Grove (8-5-1).

Isabel Miranda made 6 saves in goal for Dundee-Crown (3-12-1, 0-4).

Indian Creek 2, Westminster Christian 1: Indian Creek scored the only goal of the second half and walked away with this nonconference victory. Whitney Woodhouse had Westminster's lone goal off an assist from Lindsey Vanden Bos. Savannah Dutcher made 6 saves for the Warriors (9-8).

St. Charles North 5, Streamwood 0: St. Charles North jumped out to a 4-0 first-half lead on its way to this Upstate Eight Conference River Division win. Nathalie Guindon and Ryasmine Resindez combined to make 8 saves for the Sabres (8-10, 1-6).
