Neuqua Valley ends Waubonsie Valley's win streak at 12
Neuqua Valley 9, Waubonsie Valley 8:
The Wildcats (19-6, 13-4) pulled within 2 games of Waubonsie Valley (20-4, 15-2) in the Upstate Eight Valley and ended the Warriors' 12-game winning streak when Alex DiFranco walked with the bases loaded in the top of the 10th inning. Tyler Tesmond homered for Neuqua Valley. Brandon Petersen went 3-for-5 with a homer for the Warriors. Danny Wagner pitched 4 scoreless innings for the Wildcats.
Glenbard North 10, Naperville North 2:
Eric Orze improved to 7-0 and moved the Panthers (16-7, 10-3) into sole possession of first place in the DuPage Valley Conference. Orze struck out 10 in a 2-hitter and allowed no earned runs. Matt Michalak went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI.
Glenbard East 7, Bartlett 6:
Trailing 6-4 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rams (11-9, 7-9) rallied to tie the Upstate Eight Valley game on Michael Sebby's 2-run homer and won it on Justin Griffin's RBI double. Ryan Schefske and Sebby each went 3-for-4. Erik Van Swol won in relief.
Lake Park 13, Wheaton North 8:
A 7-run fifth inning gave the Lancers (9-12, 4-9) a 10-3 lead in their DuPage Valley Conference win. Joe Kennedy, Colin Fowich, winning pitcher Connor Cook and James Palmer all drove in 2 runs. Jack Duggan and Billy Todd did the same for Wheaton North (7-16, 3-10).
Metea Valley 10, South Elgin 4:
Jack Szott struck out 10 and gutted out a complete-game Upstate Eight Valley victory for the Mustangs (15-8, 10-7). Jacob Petersen doubled, tripled and drove in 4 runs. Andy See went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.
Downers North 9, Willowbrook 2:
A 6-run bottom of the fourth broke open the victory for the Trojans (17-8). Brendan Shanahan, who drove in 2 runs, and Dallton Baron each had 2 hits. Nick Laio was the winning pitcher. Matt Pizur and Kyle Martyniuk drove in runs for Willowbrook (17-8).
Downers South 12, Glenbard West 7:
Ryan Taylor went 3-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBI while Joe LaCivita also homered for the Mustangs (19-3). Zach Jones won on the mound. Alex Martenson and Arno Curtis homered and combined for 5 RBI for Glenbard West (12-12).
