Neuqua Valley clinches share of UEC Valley

On senior night at Neuqua Valley, the Wildcats defeated West Aurora 5-0 in Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division girls soccer action.

Kiley Czerwinski had 2 goals and an assist. Dannah Williams and Haley Singer also scored, as did Lauren Ciesla. Alyssa Bombacino, Taylor Sparbanie, Amanda Fenton and Demi Hagen each had an assist for the Wildcats (12-3-2, 6-0-1), who secured at least a tie for the division championship.

Boys volleyball

Glenbard West d. Downers Grove North:

The Hilltoppers won the West Suburban Silver match 25-22, 25-16 behind 21 assists from Paulie Bischoff and 9 kills from Kyler Kotsakis.

Benet d. Marist:

The Redwings won 25-22, 26-24 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference as Mark Schuessler had 12 kills. Alex Yates had 8 kills, Ben Mazza had 15 assists and Jackson Van Eekeren added 12 assists and 5 digs.

Softball

St. Edward 4, Wheaton Academy 0:

In the Metro Suburban West, the Warriors managed just 2 hits - by senior catcher Jessica Bosse and freshman shortstop Madison Ebeling - against pitcher Lindsay Zdroik. St. Edward scored twice in the first inning and twice more in the fifth.

Metea Valley 14, East Aurora 0:

An 8-run second inning helped the Mustangs (9-14, 7-8) to the Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division victory in five innings. Elise Titiner (8-12) was the winning pitcher, striking out four without a walk.
