Food critic found dead in Chicago hotel

CHICAGO - Authorities say a well-known food critic who was in Chicago for the James Beard Foundation Awards has been found dead in his hotel room.

The Cook County medical examiner's office says 47-year-old Josh Ozersky was pronounced dead late Monday morning at the Conrad Chicago Hotel. A cause of death hasn't been released, but the office says an examination will be conducted Tuesday.

Ozersky was on the awards committee for this year's James Beard Foundation Awards. He was in Chicago to attend the ceremony, which took place Monday night.

Ozersky was a food writer for Esquire magazine and frequent contributor to other publications including Time, The Wall Street Journal and Food & Wine.

He also was a founding editor of New York Magazine's Grub Street food blog.
