Cougars stop Snappers in 10

The Kane County Cougars won their first home series of the season, but they had to work a little extra to accomplish the feat. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Colin Bray delivered a game-tying single and Ryan Gebhardt drove home Steve McQuail with a walk-off hit, giving the Cougars a 5-4 win ove the Beloit Snappers (10-14) at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva on Sunday.

The Cougars (11-13) had coughed up a 2-0 advantage in the top of the ninth as the Snappers (10-14) rallied for a 3-2 lead. But in the bottom of the ninth, McQuail ripped a leadoff pinch-hit double, took third on Colin Bray's sacrifice and scored the tying run on Gebhardt's sacrifice fly. The Snappers retook a 4-3 lead in the 10th inning.

The Cougars' Brad Keller had a no-decision despite working 7 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts. Reliever Bud Jeter (2-1) earned the win.

The Cougars host a three-game series against Quad Cities starting today at 6:30 p.m., with Markus Solbach (1-1, 3.42 ERA) starting against the Bandits' Austin Chrismon.
