Mayor, Rotary Club honor Mary Stitt on her ninetieth

Arlington Heights Mayor Thomas Hayes and the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights Sunset honored nonagenarian Mary Stitt with a surprise party at Mary's very own Rotary Club meeting April 15th at Eddie's Restaurant for her 90th birthday achieved on April 14th. Mayor Hayes recognized Mary with a Village of Arlington Heights proclamation commemorating her ninetieth birthday.

The proclamation read in part, "Whereas the Village of Arlington Heights recognizes Mary Stitt as she celebrates her 90th birthday on April 14, 2015. Mary Stitt is synonymous with: educational leader and devoted community volunteer … Arlington Heights is proud to have been enriched by her professional gifts as an educator and principal and … her willingness to volunteer in a variety of ways including activities organized by the Sunrise Rotary Club, her church, and other local and national service organizations … her dedicated volunteerism has enhanced the lives of many."

Among the many gifts that Mary received was a framed sheet of 1957 "Polio Prevention" stamps, the number one international cause of Rotary.
