Baseball: Fox Valley roundup Wednesday, April 29

St. Edward 4, Fenton 1: Jack Tierney tossed a 5-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Green Wave to a Metro Suburban West win. Tierney was also 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and Joe Esposito went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for St. Edward (6-12, 3-7). Jake LaFrenz added 2 hits and an RBI for the Wave.

Dundee-Crown 4, McHenry 2: Danny Denz allowed just 1 hit and had 9 strikeouts in 5⅓ innings of relief and he had 2 doubles and an RBI as the Chargers (14-7, 2-2) prevailed in this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game. Jared Ludwig (RBI) and Jim Welzien each added doubles for D-C while Nick Musielewicz also drove in a run.

Neuqua Valley 5, South Elgin 1: Dane Toppel drove in South Elgin's only run as the Storm (11-4, 8-4) fell to Neuqua for the second straight day in the Upstate Eight Valley. South Elgin managed just 4 hits off the Wildcats' Connor Rektorski. Ryan Weiss took the loss for the Storm.

Batavia 13, Elgin 2: The Maroons (6-15, 3-10) managed just 4 hits in this Upstate Eight River loss. John Nelson suffered the loss on the mound.

Waubonsie Valley 7, Bartlett 1: Cory Krolikowski was 3-for-4 with a double and Austin Hilvert added a double for Bartlett (10-9, 7-6) in the Upstate Eight Valley. Michael Pfaender drove in the Hawks' run and Brandon Kendall was the losing pitcher.

Westminster Christian 15, Harvest Christian 0: In the completion of a suspended game, the Warriors (12-10, 8-1) rolled to the easy Northeast Athletic Conference win. Frank Anglulo was 2-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBI for Westminster and Brandon Rufolo drove in 2 runs., Jarrett Mueller and Ian Merlak each added doubles and Nic Anglulo was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 5-inning complete game. Drew Lewis took the loss for the Lions (3-10, 1-5).

Woodstock 6, Hampshire 2: Michael Kruse was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in both Hampshire runs in this FVC Fox loss. Alex Crinigan was the losing pitcher for Hampshire (13-6, 2-1).

Huntley 9, Johnsburg 1: In nonconference action, Ryan McGran (2B, RBI), Jake Liebman (2 RBI) and Bobby Hecker each had 2 RBI for the Red Raiders (6-15). Robert Thomm had 2 RBI while Noah Konie, Ben Relva and Brandon Meyer had an RBI each. DJ Cruz picked up the win on the mound, allowing 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks in 4⅔ innings.

West Chicago 8, Streamwood 3: Tim Crom was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Hayden Holota was 2-for-4 for the Sabres (4-15, 3-9) in the UEC River. Jr Alvarez took the loss.

Cary-Grove 5, Burlington Central 4: Jimmy Perkins went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and picked up the save in relief of winning pitcher Nick Frank, while Matt Sutherland was 2-for-4 as the Trojans (12-6-2) hung on for a nonconference win. Larkin Hanselmann also had an RBI for Cary-Grove. Andrew Wiss was 2-for-3 with a solo home run for the Rockets (16-4). Andrew Lauber had 2 hits including a double and Tanner Smith added 2 hits. Ryan Anderson, Max Judnic and Craig Schuring also drove in runs for BC. Parker Boron was the losing pitcher.

Geneva 4, Larkin 0: Andrew Chmiola's single was Larkin's only hit in this UEC River loss. Jon Lenz allowed just 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks in suffering the loss for Larkin (7-13, 4-9).
