Wheaton North rallies to beat Lake Park

DuPage Valley Conference softball host Wheaton North rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Lake Park 6-5 on Wednesday.

Wheaton North junior Maggie Will drove in 4 runs; Lake Park's Taylor Barton had 3 hits and drove in 3 runs.

Neuqua Valley 5, Metea Valley 4:

In another conference squeaker, Neuqua Valley took a 2-run lead in the top of the seventh then held on while Metea (8-11, 6-6) tried to rally for the Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division victory. Jenny Budds had 3 hits for Neuqua Valley, Jesse Boudreau with a double and solo home run. Metea Valley was led by Hailey Bacani's 3 hits and 2 apiece by Megan Hinkle and Emma Zenkel.

Glenbard East 3, Waubonsie Valley 2:

Waubonsie Valley pitcher Jordan Kurth allowed only 3 hits and struck out 11 batters, yet Glenbard East came up with the Upstate Eight Valley victory with 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Rams' Tori Tyler drove in 2 of them to make a winner of pitcher Elissa Versetto. Shannon Hohman and Layne Thresh each had 2 hits for Waubonsie Valley.

York 16, Maine West 0:

Sarah Milkowski hit a home run and drove in 6 runs in the Dukes' nonconference win. Gabby Magnifico drove in 3 runs and Kyra Kroll went 4 for 4 with 2 RBI. Audrey Kosman (4-1) struck out 12 in 5 innings for York (14-1-1).

Boys volleyball

Glenbard West d. Elk Grove:

In Glenbard West's 25-20, 25-13 win over Elk Grove, Kyle Kotsakis delivered 13 kills and 3 digs and Jackson Nagle added 7 kills, 3 digs in the Hilltoppers' nonconference win. Glenbard West's Paulie Bischoff added 25 assists, 4 digs.

Lake Park d. Schaumburg:

Lake Park (8-8) rolled to the nonconference win 25-22 25-8 behind Kyle Murphy's 14 kills and Austin Patchin's 21 assists, 5 digs and 3 kills.

Girls soccer

Benet 8, Bishop McNamara 0:

The Redwings dominated the East Suburban Catholic Conference outing, all 8 goals in the first half. Jacqueline Kaufman scored 2 of them, each assisted by Kathryn Hennessey. Katherine Gesior scored a goal and assisted on one by Clare Bumpus.
