Itasca plans Green Day recycling event

Itasca is sponsoring a Green Day recycling event from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 2, at the commuter parking lot on Irving Park Road across the street from the Itasca Bank and Trust.

Teams will be accepting electronics, paper and paper products, batteries (automobile only), motor oil, antifreeze, scrap metal, fire extinguishers, clothing, fabric, bicycles, eye glasses, hearing aids, American flags, ink jet cartridges, rulers, crayons, keys, yarn, safety pins and buttons. For the second year in a row, the village will be accepting cooking oils, fats and grease.

The event is held in cooperation with Fellowes, Inc., Creative Recycling Systems, USAgain, Working Bikes, SCARCE, the Itasca public works and police departments and the local Lions Club and VFW. For details, visit www.itasca.com.
