Car strikes support column in Arlington Heights

A car struck a support column at an Arlington Heights strip mall late Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

An Arlington Heights Fire Department official said the vehicle only caused damage to the column and didn't go into the building on the 1700 block of West Campbell Street, which contains an Ace Hardware, Cake Box bakery and cleaners. Officials from the Arlington Heights building department were on scene Tuesday night to evaluate the building's structural integrity.

No injuries were reported.
