Run or walk to support Dist. 15 Educational Foundation's May 16 benefit

The District 15 Educational Foundation is participating in the "Got2Run … for Education" fourth annual run/walk to benefit wellness in schoolchildren.

A portion of the proceeds from "Got2Run … for Education" benefit schools supported by the District 15 Educational Foundation, which has promoted participation in this event since it originated in 2012. Over the past three years, 763 foundation supporters have participated in "Got2Run," raising around $10,000 for District 15 schools.

The race will be at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, in Arlington Heights, and it will feature a 2.62-mile "Micro Marathon' run/walk, and an 8K (4.97-mile) run. Early registrations are accepted through 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, and cost $15 for students and $25 for adults. A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the foundation.

The foundation will be raffling off a gift basket that includes two entries to the race, race merchandise, and a $50 gift card to Runner's High 'n Tri in Arlington Heights - all donated by Got2Run. The $5 raffle entries can be purchased in the offices at each District 15 school beginning Wednesday, April 1. The winner of the gift basket will be contacted by the Foundation on Friday, May 1.

The "Got2Run … for Education" run/walk is hosted by the Northwest Road Runners, Inc., a local, nonprofit running club established to organize a run/walk to raise money for schools and promote wellness in children. Its goal is to get kids and their parents interested in running as a healthy lifestyle choice.
