Softball: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, April 23

Burlington Central 17, Rockford Christian 0: Ashley Ratliff threw a five-inning no-hitter with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk and Jill Neisendorf went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI as the Rockets (9-9, 6-2) won easily in the Big Northern East. Emily Kisch was 3-for-4 with 4 runs scored for BC, while Amanda Ratliff (2B, 2 RBI), Kristina Ahlers (3B, RBI), Bryn Lawler (RBI), Gretchen Strubbe (2-for-3, RBI), Alyssa Mish (RBI) and Sarah Kinney (2-for-3, 3 RBI) also contributed.

McHenry 9, Jacobs 7: McHenry scored twice in the top of the seventh to upend Jacobs (8-12, 2-3) in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Emily Borg had 2 doubles and 2 RBI for the Golden Eagles, while Sarah Murray had a double and 2 RBI and Jessica Powell a double and an RBI. Teaghan Richman suffered the loss in the circle.

Huntley 6, CL South 4: Autumn Kasal had a triple and an RBI and Jessica Shields was 2-for-5 as Huntley won in 9 innings in the FVC Valley. Kateri Conklin also drove in a run for the Red Raiders (11-4, 2-2) and Tiffany Giese was the winning pitcher in relief of Conklin. Jenica Terry (2 RBI) homered for Crystal Lake South (10-5, 1-3) and Carly Chovanec (2-for-3, RBI) had a double. Samantha Schetti also had an RBI. Hailee Massie was the losing pitcher.

Grayslake Central 3, Hampshire 1: Hampshire's offense couldn't support the 11-strikeout performance by senior Haley Widmayer in this FVC Fox loss. Emily Williamson (3-for-3, 2B, RBI) and Joslyn Nelson (2-for-3) led the Whip-Purs (6-11, 2-1).

Rosary 5, St. Edward 2: Allison Stratman was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Rachel Lesh had a double for the Green Wave (14-4-1) in this nonconference loss. Emily Stapay was the losing pitcher. St. Edward gave up 4 runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Alden-Hebron 11, Westminster Christian 1: The Warriors (5-4, 2-2) managed just 3 hits in this Northeastern Athletic Conference loss. Rachel Rich drove in Westminster's only run. Kristen Mason was the losing pitcher.
