Warren 5, Wauconda 1: Hannah Nommensen struck out 14 batters, as Warren's softball team beat visiting Wauconda 5-1 in a North Suburban Conference crossover showdown Thursday.
Warren (18-1) took advantage of 6 errors in winning its 14th game in a row. Nommensen walked four and scattered 3 singles. Wauconda ace Kayla Wedl did not allow an earned run in her 6 innings. She struck out 11, didn't walk a batter and gave up 7 hits.
Warren's Mollie Peter was 2-for-3 with a double. The Blue Devils snapped a 1-1 tie by scoring four runs in the sixth.
Wauconda fell to 11-9.
Grayslake Central 3, Hampshire 1: Reagen Radke pitched a complete-game 6-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 0 walks in the Fox Valley Conference game.
Brandy Heraty hit a solo home run for Grayslake Central (11-10, 2-2). The only run allowed by Radke (7-5) was unearned.
Mundelein 11, Round Lake 1: Maddie Zazas doubled twice and went 3-for-4, and Hannah Bulgart homered for the host Mustangs in the North Suburban crossover.
Mundelein (15-4) received 2 hits apiece from Amanda Diaz (double), Maria DeVito (double), Karlee Busscher, Breanna Adams and Jordyn West.
Winning pitcher Nicole Parney struck out three and didn't walk a batter in a five-inning complete game. Both hits she allowed were to the Panthers' Mike Crisantos.
Lakes 8, Lake Zurich 6: Ally Perdue and Rachel Becker hit home runs, as the Eagles won the North Suburban crossover.
Lakes (8-8) received 2 hits apiece from Becker, Cassidy Schaar, Molly Dietz (2 RBI) and winning pitcher Perdue (2 RBI). Dietz and Karlie Rotunno had doubles, and Ashley Horner contributed a triple for the Eagles.
Lake Zurich got homers from Brittney Pettinger (2-for-3) and Jessie Pucinelli (2-for-4, 2 RBI). Amanda Guercio was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Bears.
