Saturday's 5K run, walk to benefit Habitat for Humanity

Registration is open for "Raising the Roof," Montgomery-based Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity's first benefit 5K fun run and walk Saturday, April 25.

The event is at Waubonsie Lake Park, 9S080 Kautz Road, Aurora. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and race start is 9:45 a.m.

All ages are welcome. Minors must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Proceeds will benefit Habitat's mission of building or rehabbing affordable housing in partnership with deserving families.

Awards will go to the top three finishers in age 15 and younger and 16 and older classes. Awards will be Golden Hammer, for first-place finishers; Silver Screwdriver, second place; and Bronze Boltcutter, third place.

Registration includes a T-shirt, beverage and food ticket and admission to a post-race celebration.

Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Race-day registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children.

Participants can register online at foxvalleyhabitat.org/blog/raising-roof-5k-fun-runwalk/, by mail or in person at Habitat's office at Genesis Community Church, 1300 S. Broadway in Montgomery.
