Softball: Fox Valley roundup Wednesday, April 22

Dundee-Crown 14, CL South 8: Don't look now, but the Dundee-Crown softball team is in first place in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Megan Emerson was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and 3 RBI and freshman Andrea Conway went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI as the Chargers (9-3, 3-0) defeated Crystal Lake South to win their fifth straight. Winning pitcher Sydney Ruggles had a double and an RBI for D-C, while Claire Weeks (RBI), Deanna Origer (2-for-5, RBI), Casey Weeks (RBI), Isabel Rodriguez (2B), Kayla Sjodin (3-for-3, 2 RBI) and Ashley Czerwinski (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) also contributed. Ruggles had 10 strikeouts and no walks in the circle. For the Gators (10-4, 1-2), Hailee Massie was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Taylor Kassel had an RBI, Jenica Terry a solo home run, Sam Burgard a solo homer, Chloe Skorija an RBI, Kim Woods 2 hits with a double and Sam Schetti went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Burgard was the losing pitcher.

St. Edward 13, ACC 1: Rachel Lesh was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and St. Edward took advantage of walks and 7 hit batters to win easily in the Metro Suburban West. Emily Stapay improved to 4-0 in the circle for the Green Wave (14-3-1, 5-2).

Elgin 5, Batavia 3: Destiny West was 3-for-4 and Jessica Rago had a double and an RBI and was the winning pitcher as the Maroons (3-14, 2-7) won in the Upstate Eight River. Dannah Perryman (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and Madison Latham (RBI) also pitched in for Elgin.

Bartlett 13, Neuqua Valley 5: Alyssa Nowak went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, Suzie Miceli was 2-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBI and Sarah Schmitz went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI as Bartlett won its fifth straight in this Upstate Eight Valley game. Danielle Kirby (8-3-1) was the winning pitcher for the Hawks (11-4-1, 6-2).

South Elgin 10, East Aurora 0: Stacy Bellack was 3-for-3, Alexa Rogalla 2-for-4 with a triple and Rachael Hopp had a double and 2 RBI for the Storm (7-10, 5-4) in the UEC Valley. Rachel Ziemba (RBI), Cassidy Westlund (RBI), Amber Derr (RBI), Allison Kaiser (RBI) and winning pitcher Annamae Valdivia (2-for-3, 2 RBI) also contributed.

Burlington Central 13, North Boone 2: Winning pitcher Courtni Neubauer was 3-for-4 with a double, Gretchen Strubbe was 2-for-4, Danielle Yurgil went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Bryn Lawler went 2-for-3 as the Rockets (8-9, 5-2) rolled to an easy Big Northern East win. Emily Kisch added an RBI for BC, as did Alyssa Mish.

West Chicago 17, Streamwood 4: Jessica Daley and Rebecca Roncone had doubles for Streamwood (4-12, 1-7) in this Upstate Eight River loss. Rebecca Daley was the losing pitcher.

Geneva 16, Larkin 1: Sam Wahl had a double for the Royals (2-14, 1-8) in their UEC River loss. Emily Rojo was the losing pitcher.
