WW South leaves no doubt

Wheaton Warrenville South didn't waste much time jumping all over Glenbard North during Wednesday's DuPage Valley Conference girls soccer match in Wheaton.

The Tigers never let up either, cruising to a convincing, 6-0 victory.

"We were able to finish the opportunities that we had," Tigers coach Guy Callipari said. "I thought we did a nice job of keeping our composure and finishing those chances."

Wheaton Warrenville South (7-3-0, 2-1-1) set the tone early, jumping to a 2-0 lead in the first half behind goals from Tory Adomshick and Sarah Burns.

"I thought we played good soccer, but we made too many errors," Glenbard North coach David Stanfield said. "That was also contributed from us because of our own errors, and although we had some decent chances we had too make mistakes."

The Tigers extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second half on an Anna Fank goal and such an advantage is generally paramount in soccer. It certainly was on Wednesday.

"We got punished on that third goal and they were able to break away and score again from it," Stanfield said. "We had some decent possession, but they defended well and always seemed to get bodies back on defense and then they were up 3-nil."

Glenbard North (4-5-1, 1-2-0) not only didn't score, but it was denied in many of its scoring threats from a Tigers team that dominated possession.

The Tigers sealed the victory in the second half with goals from Delaney Hansen and a pair from A.J. Jakuszewski.

"I'm always trying to do whatever I can to help the team try to win," Jakuszewski said. "We got some nice opportunities and we were able to finish them."

It was the third straight victory for the Tigers, who appear to be getting better and better, especially with Adomshick in the mix.

"It was a clean game, but when you give the ball away, and Tory, being a senior with a great soccer mind with a lot of success," Callipari said. "She's very comfortable on the ball. She's very aggressive on the right mid."

The Panthers witnessed first-hand how dominant the Tigers can be when they utilize their athleticism and speed.

"We were right in it," Stanfield said. "We were unable to match though what they were doing defensively so that's a credit to them."
