Wheeling's steppers club earns 5th state title

In February, Wheeling High School's Crucial Step Clique won its fifth straight state championship in the Illinois Drill Team Association's steppers category.

This season, C.S.C. chose "The Wise Guys" as their theme, incorporating props and humor to set the scene each time they step on the competition floor.

The state performers were: Adrian Naves, sophomore; Amy Nava, senior; Arlene Carlos, senior; Gio Peralta, senior; Iliana Mendoza, junior; Jonny Alba, senior; Keely Segura, junior; and Tania Arellano, junior.

C.S.C is one of the elite high school step teams in the nation; they placed at the National Step Show Alliance's Youth Championship Weekend in 2014. C.S.C. has also won two state championships in the Illinois Stepping League.

The team will compete on Saturday, April 25, in DeKalb, for another state title with the league. C.S.C. provides audiences with intricate rhythms, world-class precision and a flair for showmanship.
