Palatine wins Schaumburg tourney
Palatine took top honors in the eight-team boys volleyball tournament hosted by Schaumburg on Saturday.
The Pirates went 3-0 in pool play before edging Fremd 25-19, 25-20 in the semifinals and then topping Hinsdale Central 25-17, 25-23 for the title.
Ryan Campbell (45 kills) and Tyler Kendzior (42) lead Palatine's attacking effort, while Kendzior (59 assists) and Jake Boldog (54 assists) ran the offense. Campbell also served 8 aces.
The host Saxons defeated Fremd 25-17, 25-19 for third place.
