Evening of music, talk on music business at 'Rockin' the Heights'

Join the Arlington Heights Arts Commission for "Rockin' the Heights," an evening of musical performances followed by a lively discussion of the music industry at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the village hall community room, third floor, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road. In addition, there will be drawings for valuable prizes from local music businesses and the winner of the 2014 Arts Commission's Photography Competition will be announced.

Featured are performances by the group Cadence, from the El Rey Music Center and the Metropolis Rock Band from the Metropolis School of Performing Arts.

The panel discussion, "Rockin' the Heights; the State of the Art," features Jim Gignac, of the School of Rock, Arlington Heights; Scott Hendricks, head of the piano department, Arlington School of Music; Tom Henrichsen, mandolin instructor and Sue Manglaris, owner, of the El Rey Music Center; Joe Preissing, musician and chief creative officer of AJP Music Haus and Jon Weber, owner of Resonate Sound Recording Studio.

The evening opens with a half-hour devoted to networking, with coffee and refreshments. Program begins at 7 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.
