Elgin 6, Marengo 5: Elgin scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to a leadoff walk and a Marengo error, and winning pitcher Eddy Ramos (1⅓ innings) made it stand up by notching a game-ending strikeout with Marengo runners on first and second. Clay White (double), Andrew Hardt (double), Scotty Palmer and Dean Anderson each had 2 hits for Elgin (6-10).
Larkin 12, Harvest Christian Academy 2 (5 inn.): Zach Edgar went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and 3 runs scored, and he limited the Lions to 2 earned runs on 4 hits and 2 walks and struck out 5 in 5 innings to lift Larkin in the first nonconference meeting between the Elgin schools. Johnny Avila and Dan Lenz each doubled twice and Tanner Gardon went 3-for-4 with a triple and RBI for Larkin (4-8). Sophomore Ricky Lattanzio had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs while junior pitcher Chad Jakel took the loss for Harvest Christian (1-5).
Wheaton Academy 13, Westminster Christian 4: Tyler Mamrot finished 2-for-3 with a double and Frank Anguilo (RBI) had 2 hits in a losing cause. Anguilo absorbed the nonconference loss for Westminster Christian (7-8).
Hampshire 9, DeKalb 6: Tristyn Ross hit a solo home run, Michael Kruse singled to drive in the tying run and Matt Kielbasa singled in the go-ahead run during a 4-run fourth inning that gave the Whip-Purs the lead for good in this nonconference home game. Tyer Schutt had 3 of Hampshire's 6 doubles and drove in 2 runs, and reliever Michael Bowen picked up the win with 2 scoreless inning for Hampshire (8-5).
St. Charles East 1, Huntley 0: Brandon Altergott and Ryan Mills combined to hold the Saints to an earned run on 5 hits, but 6-foot-3 senior Matt Bredigan threw a 2-hit shutout to lift the Saints to this nonconference win. Stephen Podany drove in the lone run for St. Charles East (10-2). Jake Liebman and Bobby Hecker had the only hits for Huntley (5-9).
Cary-Grove 7, Glenbard North 2: Jimmy Perkins doubled twice and drove in 3 runs and Wyatt Mascarella, Tyler Pennington (double) and Zach Forney each drove in runs as the Trojans outhit the Panthers 11-5. Winning pitcher Daniel Schmidt threw 2 hitless, scoreless innings with 1 walks and 2 strikeouts for Cary-Grove (9-6-2).
