Softball: Fox Valley roundup Friday, April 17

Claire Weeks hit a home run while Sydney Ruggles and Rachel Chlopek each had 3 hits Friday as the Dundee-Crown softball team defeated Huntley 13-6 in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action in Huntley.

Chlopek had 2 doubles for the Chargers (5-3, 1-0) while Ruggles also had a double.

Ruggles was the winning pitcher, striking out 4 and walking none while allowing 10 hits.

Megan Larson had a 3-run home run for Huntley (9-3, 0-1), Megan Baczewski was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Tiffany Giese had 2 hits and an RBI for the Red Raiders. Kateri Conklin suffered the loss in the circle, striking out 7 with 3 walks. She allowed 8 hits.

Bartlett 9, Larkin 1: Hannah Hentrich drove in 3 runs and Jade Standefer went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as Bartlett (10-4-1, 5-2) won in the Upstate Eight. Winning pitcher Elyse Hickey went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI for the Hawks. In the circle she allowed just 2 hits, striking out 3 with 3 walks. Sydney Quagliano also had a double. Sophie Young doubled for Larkin (1-12, 1-6) and Emily Rojo was the losing pitcher.

Hampshire 10, Woodstock 0: Haley Widmayer threw a 2-hitter with 13 strikeouts and 2 walks to lead the Whip-Purs (5-10, 2-0) to an FVC Fox win. Ellie Lapi (3-for-3, 2B), Widmayer (2 RBI), Aly Snider (2-for-3, HR, 2B, 2 RBI), Peyton DeChant (3-for-3, HR, 2B, 4 RBI) and Melissa Esparaza (2-for-3) led the Whip-Purs' offense.

Glenbard East 7, Elgin 1: Sabrina Stockman was 2-for-4 and Destiny West had a double and an RBI for Elgin (1-13, 1-6) in the Upstate Eight. Jessica Rago suffered the loss in the circle for the Maroons.

Cary-Grove 5, Jacobs 3: Winning pitcher Caitlin Adams had 2 doubles and Brianne Prank added a double for the Trojans (5-5, 1-1) in their FVC Valley win. Taylor Belo tripled while Sarah Murray, Emily Borg and Alexis Addante each had doubles for Jacobs (7-8, 1-1). Teaghan Richman was the losing pitcher.
