Test scores to continue to climb at Saint Alphonsus Liguori Catholic School

The results of the Terra Nova battery of tests at Alphonsus Liguori Catholic School in Prospect Heights have arrived and principal Fred Muehleman is beaming.

According to Muehleman, this is the fourth consecutive year the school has seen a significant improvement in test scores, for both the eighth grade Explore/Aspire tests and the Terra Nova battery of tests for grades three through seven. Highlights of this year's Terra Nova results include the following:

Seven students scored above the 90th percentile in all five subject areas.

26 individual test scores, across all subject areas, were in the 99th percentile, the highest score possible.

More students scored in the 90th percentile, across all subject areas, than in previous years.

Science and Math achieved the highest year- to -year improvement (2012-2015) of all subject areas.

Principal Muehleman attributes the consistent improvement in testing to changes to the school's curriculum, advances in technology and a reorganization of its teaching staff.

Muehleman also acknowledges the significance of support from Saint Alphonsus school families, adding, "Thanks go out to all of our parents who have entrusted their children to Saint Alphonsus School and supported and participated in the efforts to improve our school."
