Third straight victory for Carmel

Carmel Catholic's girls soccer team picked up its third straight victory in East Suburban Catholic Conference action, capturing a 3-0 decision over visiting Nazareth Academy on Wednesday.

McKenzie Runyan, Amanda Lasso and Angela Salvi each netted goals, while Mackenzie Sheenan and Megan Runyan contributed assists.

"It's nice to get another one," said coach John Halloran, whose Corsairs are 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the ESCC. "I told the girls at halftime that I didn't think that we played all that well. We scored so early that they assumed that we were going to walk over (Nazareth), and that wasn't the case. You're just not going to do that against them. We took about a 30-minute break and then we picked up a second goal. They had a couple of couple of chances against us and we were lucky that they didn't score."

Corsairs keeper Christina O'Block made 3 stops, as she recorded her fourth straight clean sheet.

Grayslake North 9, Hampshire 0: Sammie Villwock had 3 goals and 4 assists for the Knights in their Fox Valley Conference win.

Meghan McCue added 3 goals and an assist for Grayslake North (6-0-2), which also got goals from Kelley O'Brien, Jocelyn Rodriguez and Cammy Cowperthwaite. Lauren Davis contributed a pair of assists, while Rodriguez and Tania Garcia also assisted on goals.

Megan Davis and Abby Rice shared the shutout in net.

Stevenson 2, Glenbrook South 0: Jill Steinbrink scored on an assist from Kylie Kirsch in the first half for the Patriots, and Caroline Dempsey had an unassisted tally in the second half.

Hannah Petrich earned the shutout in goal.

Lakes 8, North Chicago 0: Bella Pighini had 2 goals and an assist for the Eagles in their North Suburban Prairie match, and Alyssa Bombicino also scored twice.

Lakes (5-1-1) also received goals from Isabella Quaranta, Rylie Matchett (assist), Gretchen Metzger (2 assists) and Caitlin Farrell (assist). Nicole Nitti, Allison Vancrey and Kaitlyn Baertsch also picked up assists. Kara Jones notched the shutout in goal.
