Trevino's 2-homer effort lifts Warren past Antioch
Sabrina Trevino belted a pair of home runs, as Warren's softball team stayed hot, while cooling off Antioch in a North Suburban Conference crossover Wednesday.
The Blue Devils won 8-3, as Trevino drove in 3 runs. She has 7 homers on the season.
Warren (13-1) got a complete-game effort in the circle from sophomore Hannah Nommensen, who struck out 10 batters, walked four and allowed 7 hits.
Antioch (10-2) received 2 hits apiece from Taylor Schiltz and Ashley Stephens.
Vernon Hills 9, Grayslake Central 5: Sami Saliba was 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, as the host Cougars won the nonconference game.
Vernon Hills also got 2-hit games from Dana Meline, Anna Cirone, Dani Comitor and Nicole Pieper, who tripled and knocked in 3 runs.
Grayslake Central (7-8) got a 3-for-4 performance from Katie Strickland. Brandy Heraty (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Juliana Frusolone doubled for the Rams.
Mundelein 17, Highland Park 3: Nicole Parney homered and pitched all 7 innings (3 strikeouts, 0 walks) for the win in the nonconference game.
Mundelein (12-2) got 2 hits each from Parney. Maria DeVito (double) and Meghan Ehemann.
Carmel 10, Marian Central 2: The Corsairs' win hiked their record to 13-2.
Crystal Lake Central 4, Grayslake North 1: Kayla Switalla doubled for one of the Knights' 3 hits in their Fox Valley Conference loss.
Warren 10, Lake Forest 0: On Tuesday, the Blue Devils improved to 12-1, as Sabrina Trevino homered and went 2-for-4 and Brooke Sowa was 3-for-4 with a double.
Emily Hudgins went 2-for-3 with a double, while Shannon McKeon was 2-for-4 with a triple.
