Arlington Heights police investigate after vandalism found at Westgate School

Vandalism found near Westgate Elementary School in Arlington Heights led to the investigation of a bomb threat Wednesday, school officials said.

Arlington Heights police searched inside the school and the surrounding areas and determined there was no immediate threat, school officials said in an email sent out to parents Wednesday afternoon.

During the investigation, children remained in the school. The vandalism was seen by others as early as Monday, according to the email.

"The police will continue to patrol our area and communicate any information as it develops," the email read. "The safety of our students is our top priority and we are confident after the police investigation that the school is secure and students were not in danger."
